Houston, you were a dream.


(And no, not just because of the burgers and butterfly gardens.)



This was our second destination wedding trip—and our very first time setting foot in Texas. We’ve heard the rumors about Houston feeling a little like a ghost town sometimes... and okay, we get it. But there's still so much heart, flavor, and character in this city. I mean, Texas is booming right now and Huston, being the third largest city, is catching up on Austin and Dallas. Like always, we flew in a day early. We grabbed coffee and the best beet salad at 93'til—a place packed with good food, good vibes, and a WiFi password that literally made us laugh out loud: "missoldkanye." (We’re still giggling.) After breakfast, we wandered through downtown, stopped by the iconic live oaks for some natural, no-makeup shots, and strolled through the beautiful Hermann Park. Our venue for the weekend was Bayou City Fellowship - Cypress — a cozy spot tucked between tall pines. Having a hotel right on site made everything so convenient for us. After checking in, we freshened ourselves up and went to film the rehearsal.

Little tip for all couples:

If you can, invite your videographer to the rehearsal or welcome dinner! It's a perfect way to break the ice, make your bridal party more comfortable around the cameras, and snag some candid shots you won't get on the actual wedding day. (Or, good old bloopers haha).

After rehearsal, it was time to prep our equipment for the wedding day and crash—because wedding day magic waits for no one. The next morning was slow and sweet. The girls got ready in their room while the guys... well, they took all of five minutes (classic) to get ready. We soaked up the relaxed pace and captured everything—the quiet of the venue, the beautiful courtyard, all the little details that would soon hold so much meaning. The ceremony took place under those tall trees, in a sun-dappled courtyard. Absolutely stunning. If we could have added one thing? Petal-throwers from the balcony during the exit. (Manifesting that moment with a future couple... you in?) After the ceremony, though, something happened we’ve never experienced before. The bride started to feel unwell during formal photos. Honestly, our hearts dropped. Weddings move fast—and timing is everything. But sometimes, no matter how much you prep, life has its own plans. For a few hours, we quietly pivoted: filming cocktail hour, grabbing candid guest moments, and letting things unfold gently while the bride rested.

Brides-to-be, a little advice from us:

Treat your wedding week like a marathon. Hydrate. Rest. Eat well. You deserve to feel your best on your big day. No bachelorette a day before or two days before the wedding.

While we didn't get a ton of footage of just the bride and groom together, we poured our hearts into capturing guest interviews and real moments that they’ll be able to relive—and we even offered to do a quick couples' shoot before they jetted off on their honeymoon. They chose to spend the next day resting instead, which we completely understood. Some things are just bigger than the timeline. After the wedding, we took a little more time to fall in love with Houston. We visited the Butterfly Museum, checked out Ironworks, had breakfast at The Citizens Of Montrose, A Breakfast Restaurant & Cafe, and wandered through Mosaic Park.
